Description

Buy with confidence. I haven’t listed on ebay in several years but have been selling here since 1998 with this and other shop names.
Early brass arm for a Fairbanks (St. Johnsbury, Vermont, scales since 1833) scale. Has the April 9, 1850 patent which was an improvement on the suspension loops. This is stamped up by the adjustable weight.
Stamped Fairbanks Patent on both sides at the center of the arm. Stamped from 0 to 100 pounds in 1 pound increments on both sides. Every five pound line is marked with a star.
19 3/4” long. Weighs about 4 pounds 6 ounces before boxing.
Unpolished. black patina by the weight, dark brown and old worn brass color along the arm. Some greening from moisture but no heavily oxidized areas. Iron loops have roughness from old rust.
Shipping will be in a large flat rate box unless you are close to New Hampshire then I will refund some postage and mail in a regular box.
I do not accept returns, each item is checked over and described. I do not expect you to know what I’m selling through a couple photos and a title so all items get a description.
USA Sales only. Check our Zarahs shop for decorative arts and hardware, off ebay. We sell period items with an occasional old copy which will be stated in the descriptions. No New Reproductions.
